Welcome to

Mooinooi's journey through time

Mooinooi started off as a modest post office and a few schools in the surrounding area. On a spring day in 1922, a store owner and some clients tried to choose a name for the post office. Just then, miss Botha,a teacher at the school Elandskraal, walked into the post office. Her beauty was of such striking significance to mr. Heizelman, one of the persons in the post office, that he proposed that they call the post office 'mooinooi,' an Afrikaans word meaning beautiful girl. About fifty years later, the same name was allocated to the town.

Mooinooi is situated next to the N4 on the way from Pretoria to Rustenburg in the North West Province, South Africa.
